Bronze Sparrow Platform Heritage Park

邯鄲銅雀三臺(tái)遺址公園

Located in 18 kilometers away from the Southwest of Linzhang County, Handan, Hebei Province, the Bronze Sparrow Platform is a major historical and cultural site protected at the national level. Chinese terrace architecture originated from Zhou dynasty, developed during the Spring and Autumn period and Warring States period, matured during Qing and Han dynasty. Cao Cao (a Chinese warlord and the penultimate Chancellor of the Eastern Han dynasty) constructed three platforms in the city of Ye. Among them, the Bronze Sparrow Platform is one of the masterpieces of Chinese ancient terrace architecture.

銅雀臺(tái)位于河北省邯鄲市臨漳縣城西南18公里處，是全國重點(diǎn)文物保護(hù)單位。中國古代的臺(tái)式建筑始于周，成長于春秋、戰(zhàn)國，至秦漢日趨完美。曹操在鄴城建三臺(tái)、特別是銅雀臺(tái)，是我國古代臺(tái)式建筑的杰作。

Linzhang County was called Ye or Yecheng in ancient times. Ye was first built in the Spring and Autumn period by Duke Huan of Qi. During the Three Kingdoms period, Cao Cao constructed Yecheng and the Bronze Sparrow Platform, Golden Phoenix Platform, Ice Well Platform after defeating Yuan Shao (a warlord in the late Eastern Han dynasty). These platforms, also called “Three Platforms of Ye” in the history books, were the cradle of Jian’an Poetry (poetry particularly associated with the end of the Han dynasty and the beginning of the Six Dynasties era of China). The platforms,10-zhang in height (about 36.45 yd), with hundreds of rooms, are known for numerous inions of famous people in different dynasties.

臨漳古稱鄴，古鄴城始建于春秋齊桓公時(shí)，三國時(shí)期，曹操擊敗袁紹后營建鄴都，修建了銅雀、金鳳、冰井三臺(tái)，即史書中之“鄴三臺(tái)”，是建安文學(xué)的發(fā)祥地，臺(tái)高10丈，有屋百余間，因歷代名人題詠甚多而名。

For the sake of avoiding the use of Sima Ye’s given name, an Emperor Min in Western Jin dynasty, Yecheng changed its name to Linzhang, taking this name from Zhang River in the north part of the county. During the Three Kingdoms period, the Western Jin and the Eastern Jin dynasties, the Southern and Northern dynasties, Yecheng remained the capital of Cao Wei, Later Zhao, Rang Wei, Former Yan, Eastern Wei and the Northern Qi. It was regarded as the political, economic, cultural, military center of Northern China for more than four centuries. Its profound and brilliant culture and history makes Linzhang one of the historical capitals of China.

西晉為避愍帝司馬鄴諱，將鄴城易名“臨漳”，因北臨漳河而得名。三國兩晉南北朝時(shí)期，鄴城作為曹魏、后趙、冉魏、前燕、東魏、北齊六朝都城，居中國北方政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)、文化、軍事中心長達(dá)四個(gè)世紀(jì)之久，創(chuàng)造了輝煌燦爛的歷史文化，使臨漳享有“三國故地、六朝古都”之美譽(yù)。
